About Me
I help mid-market businesses design and implement robust data pipelines and workflows that thrive amid volatility — blending deep technical mastery, cross-domain thinking, and uncompromising integrity.
Read my backgroundBackground
Born in Sussex in 1970 and educated in Astrophysics at Edinburgh (1988–91) followed by Systematic Theology (BD, 1992–95), I developed an early fascination with understanding reality at its foundations — from the pre-Socratic philosophers and the Greek Fathers to mathematical modelling and computational systems.
For over two decades I have worked as an IT contractor and specialist, with deep experience in VoIP infrastructure (2004–2024), statistical programming for medical research, dictionary systems, and building reliable data pipelines and workflows. I work at high speed on deeply technical problems that others find daunting.
Today I operate as an independent consultant through Aletheia Consulting, combining rigorous engineering with a craftsman's mindset: solve the real problem, deliver on commitments, and give clients freedom from fragile infrastructure.
The Moat
A rare combination of traits that makes for durable, long-term working relationships rather than one-off projects.
01
Complex, low-level problems — data pipelines, workflows, real-time systems, Erlang — solved at a velocity others struggle to match.
02
Astrophysics, Systematic Theology, mathematical modelling, VoIP infrastructure, and modern data systems — unusual pattern recognition and first-principles thinking.
03
Responsibility, integrity, and loyalty, demonstrated through long-term contractor relationships spanning decades.
In one line
"I build the deep infrastructure that lets good businesses survive and thrive when everything else is falling apart."
